Astro Mechanica has developed a revolutionary new jet engine called the Electric Adaptive Engine, designed to be efficient at every speed. Not only is it more fuel-efficient than current jet engines, but it is also three times faster. This breakthrough was made possible by incorporating electric motors to drive the compressor, enabling it to spin at variable speeds that "adapt" to airspeed and the engine's combustion cycle.

Incredibly, Astro Mechanica built its proof-of-concept engine in just two months—an achievement that would typically take a year for most aerospace companies. The company is now on track to complete its first flight engine in just three months, using $500k of off-the-shelf hardware. The next step is constructing an airframe over the next 6-8 months to house the engine, with the goal of demonstrating supersonic flight in 2025.
